Is Digital X-Ray Safe? Common Radiation Myths Explained

"X-Ray rays are dangerous" is the most common worry we hear at our centre. The truth is more reassuring: a single chest X-Ray exposes you to radiation roughly equal to a few days of natural background radiation you receive just by living on Earth.

Why digital is safer than film

Digital X-Ray sensors are far more sensitive than old X-Ray films, so the machine needs a much shorter and weaker exposure. Images appear on a computer instantly, which removes the need for repeated shots caused by blurred film images.

When you should NOT delay

For a suspected fracture, chest infection, sinus problem or joint pain, an X-Ray is often the fastest way to a correct diagnosis. The benefit of an accurate diagnosis far outweighs the tiny exposure of a single digital X-Ray.
