Thyroid Trouble: 7 Symptoms You Should Not Ignore
The thyroid is a small gland in the neck that controls how fast or slow every cell in your body works. When it under-performs or over-performs, the symptoms quietly mix into daily life and are easy to dismiss.
The seven warning signs
Watch out for: unexplained weight gain or loss, constant fatigue despite good sleep, hair fall and dry skin, feeling unusually cold or hot, irregular periods, anxiety or low mood, and swelling in the neck. Two or more of these together are enough reason to test.
Which test to book
A Thyroid Profile (T3, T4, TSH) is the standard screening. If results are borderline or symptoms persist, doctors often add an Anti-TPO antibody test to check for autoimmune thyroid disease. No fasting is strictly required, but a morning sample gives the most consistent TSH reading.
Thyroid imbalance is one of the most treatable conditions — but only if it is detected. A small blood test today can explain months of unexplained symptoms.
