Fever Not Going Away? These Tests Find the Real Cause
Every monsoon, thousands of people treat fever at home with the same tablets — while the actual cause could be malaria, dengue, typhoid or a urine infection. Each of these needs completely different treatment, and delays can become dangerous, especially in dengue where platelet counts must be watched closely.
What a fever panel checks
A standard fever panel combines a CBC (for infection markers and platelets), malaria antigen, typhoid tests (Typhidot and Widal), urine routine and ESR. The advance panel adds the Dengue NS1 antigen, which can detect dengue from day one of fever — far earlier than antibody tests.
When should you get tested
If fever crosses 48 hours, keeps returning, or comes with chills, body ache, rash or severe weakness, get tested instead of self-medicating. No fasting is needed for a fever panel, and reports are ready the same day so your doctor can start the right treatment immediately.
